Feng Shui Decor for a Rental You Can’t Renovate

September 17, 2026  ·  1 min read

Most advice about arranging a home assumes you own it. You cannot move a wall, redo the kitchen, or knock through to the garden. What you can change is where things are put down — which is most of what space harmony actually is.

Start with the three places you touch daily

  • Where your keys land. If this is a pile on the floor, the entrance reads as unfinished no matter how good the rest of the flat is.
  • Where you sit to work. Facing the room reads better than facing a wall, and it is the one change that costs nothing.
  • The corner that collects things. Every flat has one. Put a single object there and the pile stops growing around it.

One object, placed deliberately

Five objects placed randomly read as clutter. One object placed deliberately reads as a decision. If you are renting, this ratio is your whole advantage — you can change it in an afternoon and change it back when you leave.

What to skip

Anything that needs installing: wall-mounted fountains, floating shelves you are not allowed to drill, lighting you cannot rewire. Tabletop versions do the same job and leave no holes, which matters when the deposit comes back.

A note on what this is

Arranging a room well makes a room read as settled. That is the effect, and it is a real one. We are not going to claim it does anything beyond that. Our Energy Space pieces are all tabletop, for exactly this reason.

Where to next

Four corners of the realm.

Bond

Matched sets for the ones you keep close.

Zodiac

A guardian stone for every sign.

Zodiac Guide

What's your sign's stone?

Tell us the year you were born. In Chinese zodiac tradition every sign has a stone tied to it — we'll show you yours, and the object we'd pair it with.
